FAQs

At Charles Terry Construction, we want you to feel comfortable with every aspect of the roofing process. Here are some questions we are frequently asked by our Midland roofing customers.

Q. How can I tell if my roof has a problem?

A. Roofs can’t talk, but they often show signs of a problem. These include shingles that are curling or splitting, and/or an excessive amount of shingle granules in gutters. You may notice tiles that are cracked or misplaced. Metal flashings may appear lifted or otherwise damaged. Lastly, you may find evidence of a water leak in the attic or along interior ceilings and walls. If you notice any of these signs, promptly call a qualified Midland roofing contractor.

Q. How much will my project cost?

A. You will never have to wonder how much your project will run. Once we’ve completed an initial evaluation, Charles Terry Construction always provides a written proposal, along with several references for you to contact.

Q. When I hire you, what will be the procedure for completing my project?

A. Charles Terry Construction starts every project with a comprehensive roof inspection to evaluate the condition of roofing materials and ventilation. We’ll check local building codes and obtain necessary city permits. Once our crew arrives, we’ll set up tarps to protect your house and landscaping from falling debris before any work begins.

Q. Can you accept payment through my insurance company?

A. Yes, we accept insurance claims and can guide you through the claims process.

Q. How long will my new roof last?

A. Life expectancy of a roof depends upon many factors, including the material, climate, weather conditions, and quality of installation and maintenance. Generally, a good asphalt shingle roof can last 25+ years, while materials such as tile, metal, slate and composition may last 50 years or more.

Q. I’m purchasing a home that needs a new roof, and the seller has chosen another roofer. Should I insist on making the decision?

A.If you’re buying a home and it needs a new roof, rest assured, your realtor is going to recommend the cheapest roofer possible. This is great for the seller, because that person probably won’t care about the roof being put on the house they are leaving. It’s in your best interest to choose your own roofing company. Cheap prices will often come back to haunt you.
